“MacBook Tablet announced next month” says Apple rep, specifications inside

Apple will announce the MacBook Tablet next month. The tablet will be added to its highly-successful MacBook line. A representative for Apple US told AppleTablet.net. However she could already give us some technical specifications. This model is the first to sport an 15.4″ touchscreen and a suite of touch-optimized software that enables users to get the most out of finger or stylus input—thus transcending the capabilities of previous generations of devices in its class.

WWDC Apple Tablet

At the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2009, Apple showed off its new operating system: Mac OS X 10.6. Like Microsoft’s Windows 7, it has extensive support for touchscreen computers and this signals a new hint at the Apple Tablet that will hit soon.

As CNET writes:

“However, based on the features demonstrated at the developer conference last week, the newest version of the Mac operating system, OS X 10.6, dubbed Snow Leopard, could turn out to be the most touchscreen-friendly Mac OS the company has ever built. Snow Leopard won’t be available until September, and so far, Apple does not sell a touchscreen notebook or tablet. But some of the features in the upcoming OS at least show a path on which Apple could be headed toward offering a larger touchscreen device.”

macbook tablet 1024x999 MacBook line up changed to prepare for touchscreen tablet, says Apple

“Yesterday, during the first day of the Apple Worldwide Developer Conference, Apple did something that really surprised a lot of people, myself included. They re-branded their line up of laptops. What they did was, they took their 13 inch aluminum Macbook, upped the specs, and are now callig it the 13 inch Macbook Pro. So really, any laptop from Apple that’s aluminum, and is not a Macbook Air, is now a Macbook Pro, meaning that the only surviving Macbook is the old plastic model.”

Gather has posted up an interesting take on the Apple tablet or Macbook tablet rumors. Apple has changed its nomenclature for its laptops to fit a new segment of possibly touchscreen tablets called Macbook:

A video of the Apple MacBook Tablet’s graphic user interface has been posted up on YouTube. It is a concept rendering of what the interface could look like if Apple would launch a touchscreen MacBook. Especially interesting is the on-screen keyboard which would completely remove the need to include a keyboard with the device:

Apple has recently filed for a patent which looks surprisingly like a mobile internet device or tablet PC. It is cryptically titled “Display Housing for Computing Device”. The device has a touchscreen display and looks very flat. It holds the Apple logo on the slightly curvy bottom. In the patent, an optical CD, DVD or Blu-Ray drive is not described.

Hi! My name is Heather Richardson. In my daily life I am a marketing director for a medium enterprise consultancy firm. Apart from that I am a huge Apple fanboy…eh, well fangirl is the right word! But it feels something is missing…

An Apple tablet PC! Yes! And that is what my blog is about. There are rumors one is being released soon.
